What is a Regional Safe School?
In 1996, The Illinois Legislative created the Regional Safe Schools Program to provide educational opportunities for general education students who are in danger of being expelled, have received multiple suspensions, been truant, or are in some way disconnected from the educational process.
Who runs the Regional Safe Schools?
The Regional Safe Schools Programs are operated by Intermediate Service Centers and Regional Offices of Education. In western Cook County, the Regional Safe School Programs are operated by West 40 Intermediate Service Center #2.
How is this program funded?
Receives grant dollars from the State of Illinois, full foundation level funding of General State Aid for enrolled students and participating school districts contributes student tuition.
Which districts can send students to the West 40 Regional Safe School-Middle School?
Any of the public elementary or unit school districts in the West 40 service area is eligible to refer a student to the West 40 Regional Safe School-Middle School.
