STEVE BOGREN
Chief Comprehensive Educational Services Officer
Steve has been in education for over 42 years. Before joining
West40 in 2017, he was the principal at Hillside Elementary School
for 19 years. There, he fostered a collaborative environment and
implemented a successful School Improvement Plan and District
Strategic Plan. Bringing MAWI Learning to support the
Social/Emotional needs of the students was one highlight of his
tenure. Throughout his administrative career, Steve has presented
at many state and national education conferences. Steve also
served as a New Principal Mentor and was the president of the
West40 Governing Board.
Steve is a compliance expert who helps ensure that school
facilities in West Suburban Cook County are safe, secure, and
meet the standards set by the state for students, faculty, and staff.
As West40’s Chief of Comprehensive Educational Services Officer,
he oversees a team that conducts both Health Life Safety and
Compliance visits for all 40 districts, which includes 152 schools. In
addition, he oversees and conducts over 120 Non-Public School
Recognition visits each year.
His latest initiative is developing and implementing the School
Safety and Threat Assessment Team (STAT) This team is fortunate
to have experts in the field conduct a myriad of supports and
trainings for schools and organizations that reach far beyond just
the West40 area.
