She spent 19 years with Chicago Public Schools, and has coached districts and schools across the state of Illinois and across the country. This coaching work involves assessing needs based on data, creating a focused plan that is implemented and monitored across multiple aspects of schools and districts.     9:00 - 1:00 < Back Bounce Back 10/1, 10/2, & 10/4/2024 CLOSED 9:00 - 1:00 Bounce Back (BB) is an evidence-based group intervention developed to relieve symptoms of anxiety, stress, depression, and post-traumatic stress among young students (K-5) exposed to stressful events. It includes 10 group sessions, 2 individual sessions with each student, 1 joint session with the caregiver and their student, and caregiver education sessions. Students participating in Bounce Back will learn skills such as: relaxation training, challenging upsetting thoughts, social problem solving, and processing the stressful event. By the conclusion of this 12-hour training, participating clinicians will be equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to facilitate the Bounce Back program. Training includes an overview of the intervention and its research support, session-by-session content training, demonstration, coaching and practice of skills and some best practices for implementation. LAVERNE COKE WRIGHT More about LaVerne School Improvement Coordinator Dr. LaVerne Coke Wright is an accomplished educator who has served as a teacher, leader, and administrator across both public and charter school settings. She currently leads a team at West40 in partnership with Chicago Public Schools (CPS), collaborating with Learning Partner Schools to design and refine effective school improvement processes and aligned supports. Her work ensures coherence with CPS and ISBE priorities while advancing high impact continuous improvement through disciplined implementation, team feedback, and ongoing learning. Dr. Coke Wright is committed to fostering psychological safety and leveraging collective expertise to strengthen team effectiveness, model strong adult learning practices, and support sustainable school improvement. In addition, she serves as a Research Associate for the UIC/CPS SPARKLE research initiative, contributing to the study of schools demonstrating strong and equitable outcomes and helping to develop models that inform and strengthen practice across diverse school communities.     Senior Director of Student Programs < Back JOE GAGE Senior Director of Student Programs With 23 years in education, I have had the privilege of serving as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal in both traditional and alternative school settings. Now, as Senior Director of Student Programs at West40, my primary focus is to support and empower the incredible team members who lead the diverse programs within our Continuum of Student Services. I am deeply proud to be part of the West40 family and the mission we collectively share—to uplift students by providing the resources, opportunities, and encouragement they need to succeed. I firmly believe that every student success story is a team effort. I’m honored to be a part of that team and to play a role in making a positive impact on a student's life. Beyond my work, you’ll often find me cheering on my daughters from the stands, enjoying live music, playing billiards, or tackling DIY projects around the house.
